TaleMonster Games Raises $30M Series A to Redefine Casual Puzzle Gaming

Founded by seasoned veterans from Peak Games, TaleMonster Games was established with a clear mission to bring greater depth and creativity to casual puzzle games. Demonstrating strong investor confidence in this vision, the company has successfully raised $30 million in a Series A funding round, led by Arcadia Gaming Partners and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

The round also included participation from Point72 Ventures and General Catalyst, further reinforcing the strength of TaleMonster’s founding team and product strategy.

TaleMonster’s debut title, Match Valley, stands out as an innovative casual game that blends classic puzzle mechanics with elements inspired by hero-based and tower defense genres. This creative combination has translated into exceptional early performance, with the game achieving industry-leading metrics, including an average daily playtime of 100 minutes.

İrem Sümer, Co-Founder and CEO of TaleMonster, stated:

“Our goal is to set new standards for what casual games can offer. Today’s players are far more experienced than before. After years of playing mobile games, they now seek greater depth in their experiences. We see a significant opportunity to meet this shift in expectations at scale.”

While the global casual gaming market reaches over one billion players, true differentiation has become increasingly rare—particularly in the puzzle genre, where many titles follow similar design patterns. TaleMonster aims to break away from these conventions by creating category-defining games that combine broad appeal with deeply engaging gameplay experiences.

Commenting on the investment, Akın Babayiğit, Founder and Managing Partner at Arcadia Gaming Partners, said:

“Companies at this stage are typically strong in just one or two metrics; TaleMonster, however, demonstrates strength across multiple dimensions.”

Babayiğit highlighted the founding team’s success in combining strong monetization with high retention.

Josh Lu, Partner at a16z, added:

“Choosing a different path in a category where most teams rely on the same roadmap requires real courage. TaleMonster never chose the easy route; they have built an original product and culture that is unafraid to challenge the industry.”

Based in Istanbul, the studio was founded by developers behind globally successful titles such as Toon Blast and Toy Blast, created at Peak Games prior to its $1.8 billion acquisition by Zynga. With this new investment, TaleMonster aims to continue delivering surprising and innovative experiences to players worldwide.

“We are a team brought together by a passion for product excellence and a deep love for games. Our mission is to create games that surprise players, challenge them, and grow alongside them.”
