Quintas Capital completes its first $18.4 million Managed Equity investment in Petal Group

Quintas Capital has announced the completion of its first Managed Equity investment worth $18.4 million in Petal Group, a rapidly expanding floral gifting and e-commerce enterprise headquartered across Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.

The Petal Group operates a strong portfolio of online floral brands — Flowers.ie, FlowersDirect.ie, BloomMagic.ie, and Flowers.ae — delivering thousands of premium floral gifts every week across Ireland and the UAE.

Founded by Garreth Knowd, an accomplished entrepreneur and technologist, the Group has built a solid reputation for luxury floral designs, same-day delivery, and a proprietary technology platform that drives fulfillment efficiency and enhances the customer experience.

Kevin MacSweeny, Head of Managed Equity and Shareholder at Quintas Capital, said:

“This is a landmark first investment for our Managed Equity strategy, and we are thrilled to partner with Garreth and the team. Petal Group has built a unique high-growth, scalable, and technology-led business with significant international reach. We look forward to supporting the next phase of its expansion, focusing on acquisitions and entry into new strategic markets.”

This investment marks a major milestone for Quintas Capital, as it represents the first transaction under its Managed Equity division — a deal-by-deal private equity model that allows the firm to collaborate with investors, entrepreneurs, and management teams on scalable, high-growth opportunities.

In 2024, private equity professionals Kevin MacSweeny and UAE-based Fawad Tariq Khan acquired a substantial stake in Quintas Capital, aiming to expand its footprint in private market investment activities.

Fawad Tariq Khan, Director and Shareholder at Quintas Capital, commented:

“The United Arab Emirates is a high-growth economy, and we are proud to make our first equity investment in the region. We are actively seeking acquisitions and new market expansion, supporting our thesis for the Irish–Middle East investment corridor.”

Garreth Knowd, Founder of Petal Group, added:

“I am excited to be working with Kevin, Fawad, and the team at Quintas Capital while remaining a shareholder in this next journey for the companies. Kevin was very focused on bringing the right mix of value-add investors to Petal, some of whom will be joining us on the Board.”

Quintas Capital’s wider investment platform includes Managed Equity, an EIIS fund, and a Private Credit platform led by CEO Kevin Canning, offering private investors professionally managed access to alternative investment opportunities typically reserved for institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.

The transaction was advised by Grant Thornton Ireland and UAE led by Gareth Cosgrove on financial, tax, and technology due diligence, and A&L Goodbody on transaction legals led by Laura Kennedy, with Afridi & Angell, led by Saurbh Kothari, serving as local UAE counsel.
The Petal Group was advised by PKF Brenson Lawlor for corporate finance (led by Jason Bradshaw & Gordon Wilson) and by Simmons & Simmons for legal matters (led by David Brangam).
