Dubai Media Council Establishes Two Strategic Committees to Boost Film and Gaming Sectors

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed the development of a comprehensive operational plan to advance the film and gaming sectors in Dubai, ensuring the provision of world-class services and facilities.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that the establishment of the two committees strengthens the institutional framework necessary to drive growth in these strategic sectors, which play a pivotal role in advancing Dubai’s media industry. He highlighted that Dubai is exceptionally positioned to achieve global leadership, supported by state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, agile regulatory frameworks, robust logistics ecosystems, and a strategic geographical location connecting global markets.

"Dubai’s media sector is entering a new era of growth driven by innovation and global collaboration," H.H. Sheikh Ahmed stated. "As the media landscape rapidly evolves with technological advancement, we are committed to positioning Dubai at the heart of this transformation. Guided by a clear strategy and agile mindset, we continue to anticipate global shifts and respond with strategic initiatives. With the dedication of our teams, we are confident that Dubai will strengthen its standing as a global hub for the digital economy, and as a destination where talent and ideas from around the world converge to shape the future."

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, remarked that the committees mark a significant milestone in strengthening Dubai’s media ecosystem. She highlighted that this initiative reinforces the Council’s efforts to nurture local talent, attract international expertise, and keep pace with industry evolution.

"The formation of these committees represents a vital step in creating an integrated and sustainable media ecosystem, enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness while generating new opportunities for investors, content creators, and innovators in the film and gaming sectors, supporting the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33," Al Marri added.

She also emphasized that this approach focuses on placing the creative economy at the centre of Dubai’s economic ecosystem, with the film and gaming sectors serving as strategic platforms to showcase Dubai’s creativity globally.

The committees will deliver high-quality services to position Dubai as a global hub for media production. The Dubai Film Development Committee will provide tailored industry support, coordinate with key stakeholders, collaborate with local and international studios, and facilitate specialized training programs for emerging filmmakers.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Gaming Committee will foster strategic partnerships, provide services and facilities to support the sector’s growth, empower young talent through professional development programs, and facilitate start-up expansion. These initiatives aim to accelerate Dubai’s digital economy, reinforce the city’s regional and global leadership in gaming, and open new opportunities for innovators and investors.
