Cursor in Talks for New Funding Round That Could Value the Company at $50 Billion

Cursor, one of the fastest-growing startups in the AI-powered coding tools space, is reportedly in talks with investors to raise a new funding round that could value the company at around $50 billion, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The potential valuation represents a significant jump from the company’s previous funding round in November, when it raised $2.3 billion at a valuation of $29.3 billion.
Cursor’s AI assistant, launched in 2023, helps developers write, debug, and improve code more efficiently, quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing AI coding tools in the market.
The product is developed by Anysphere, a startup founded in 2022 by a group of MIT graduates, with the goal of accelerating software development through AI-driven tools.
Since its launch, Cursor has seen rapid adoption among developers and technology companies, offering capabilities that streamline coding workflows and enhance development productivity.
According to reports, the company surpassed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) by the end of 2025, a remarkable milestone for a startup founded only a few years ago.
Cursor has also attracted backing from several prominent venture capital firms and major technology companies, including Google and Nvidia, as well as Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, and Thrive Capital.
The strong investor interest comes amid a broader surge in AI-powered coding tools, which enable developers — and even non-programmers — to build applications using simple text prompts.
Today, Cursor stands among the leading companies in this space, alongside startups such as Replit and Lovable, in a rapidly expanding market attracting significant investment as AI reshapes the future of software development.
