Crypto.com Founder Acquires AI.com for $70 Million to Launch New AI Platform

Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, has acquired the domain AI.com for $70 million, the highest publicly disclosed price for a domain name, aiming to launch a new entrant in the artificial intelligence race.
Marszalek plans to debut AI.com in a Super Bowl ad this weekend, offering a personal AI agent that allows users to send messages, use apps, and trade stocks.
Speaking to the FT, Marszalek said: “Last year an opportunity came up for me to acquire this domain, and I thought if you take a long-term view — 10 to 20 years — AI is going to be one of the greatest technological waves of our lifetime. So it would be a good investment.”
The deal, confirmed by broker Larry Fischer, was paid entirely in cryptocurrency, marking the largest disclosed sale of a domain name. Fischer added: “With assets like AI.com, there are no substitutes. When one becomes available, the opportunity may never present itself again.”
Marszalek launched Crypto.com in 2016 into a crowded cryptocurrency market. The platform now generates $1.5 billion in annual revenue and has partnered with Trump Media & Technology Group, gaining attention through sports sponsorships and celebrity endorsements.
He cited “good business reasons” for the purchase: “There is a big desire for us to own this touchpoint, otherwise you get commoditised.” Marszalek hopes AI.com can offer features similar to OpenClaw but with a simpler setup for a less technical audience.
